HEALTH CARE FOR THE URBAN POOR

The Mission started its work to serve the most destitute and downtrodden in the slums of Calcutta in the year 1987 with the opening of a small Homeo Clinic in the dingy slum of the North Calcutta. Since then, one after the othe, Outdoor Homeo Clinics were inugurated by Swamiji to cater to the crying need for medical attention for those who can hardly afford the treatment in the City. At present more than 14 slum clinics heal thousands of suffering people every month.

Two Mobile Clinics reach to more than 35 slums and to the interior of those areas where the medical aid is hardly available. Each day, these two Mobile Cinics which are like moving temples of service, treat more than 450 patients. Dr. N.N.Dutta of London and Sarada Madugula of Nashville, TN, USA were kind to provide these two mobile vans for such divine service to the poorest of the poor in this most thickly populated city of India.

In collaboration with Nihar Munshi Eye Foundation, a leading Eye Care Foundation in Calcutta, the Mission serves the poor on the streets and the slums of Calcutta by organizing Eye Camps and Awareness Camps. Free Micro Surgery is done to hundreds of patients.

Health Awareness programs are conducted from time to time.

EDUCATION FOR THE STREET CHILDREN:

There are four Street Children Schools at Kalighat, Rashbehari, Garcha1 and 2. All these schools are indeed the place for learning not only for the street children who feel the warm love of the teachers and volunteers from all around the world but also for them who go to share their time in service.

HEARSE SERVICE FOR THE LAST JOURNEY

The Mission runs three hearses to carry the dead to the crematoriums. This service has been hailed by one and all as the most pioneering service by the Mission to meet the growing urban need both of the poor and of the rich alike. The Mission acknowledges with gratitude the gift of the first Van by Dr.N.N.Dutta and also his idea of providing this service.
