Relief is being provided by Lokenath Divine Life Mission

Thousands of villagers lost the roof above them and stood below the open sky. Mission arranged for hundreds of Polythene Sheet so that they could at least make a temporary shed to save them from the heat of the sun and lash of the rain. “We have a different confidence on Mission”, uttered one flood-affected villager, “ They stood beside us from the day one and we got the best help from them within their limited capability.”

In the villages, where a few hours ago, all the fields were nearly dry – the saline water of the river did such havoc that there was no water for human use. The pumping stations, tube wells were all under saline water resulting into unavailability of drinking water. Mission took immediate steps to send drinking water to the affected areas as well as arranged for fair distribution of water from the only tube well of the Mission, which was standing high above the saline water level.

LOKENATH DIVINE LIFE MISSION APPEALS FOR YOUR CONSCIOUS HELP TO PEOPLE IN SUNDERBANS WHO ARE BEING AFFECTED BY AILA CYCLONE

On 25th of May'09 cyclone Aila of unprecedented magnitude hit West Bengal and caused the most painful devastation. Millions of poorest of the poor villagers in the villages where Lokenath Divine Life Mission has served for last 20 years were affected. Every thing was washed out, embankments gave away and even now hundreds of thousands of people are homeless, sheltered in the school buildings. Crops have been ruined and homes are under water or washed away. All the cattles are dead.Saline water has damaged the fields.

Now the villagers are homeless and many of them are missing. The area is full of rotten animals who were washed away. People are suffering from stomach related diseases. There is no drinking water. No food as all their grains have been washed away. No shelter as their mud houses are no more.

LDLM is sending as much food materials and water as possible, to the affected places.
We are also supplying plastic sheets to make temporary make shift sheds under which people can take shelter till they are back to their own homes.

Even though the devastation is terrible, Baba says:

Yes, the peace will return, for nothing can stop the indomitable spirit of man to win and keep afloat against any adversities of life. Particularly these people of the Sunderban islands who, for years, have learned the hard way of life. Good days will come again for them, for God is good. How can He watch His loving children in pain for long??? That is my faith, faith in my Mother, for Her to have compassion for Her children. I only wish you all intensify your prayers and meditation for the good of the world, more and more! Sarve bhavantu Sukhinah! (May all beings in this universe be happy). Om Shanti,

Love, gratitude, and blessings infinite Baba
